Say Cheese!


Mozzarella Sticks

Healthy mozzarella sticks. Who knew?! Today, Amanda and I recreated mozzarella sticks. Instead of frying them, we baked them.  In lieu of breadcrumbs, we used wanton wrappers. You will need one wanton wrapper for every half of a cheese stick. Feel free to make as many as you would like. Enjoy!













Healthy Mozzarella Sticks

Yields as many servings as desired
Cooks for approximately 5 minutes

Ingredients:
Wanton wrappers
Reduced fat mozzarella string cheese
1 egg white

Directions:
1.    Preheat the oven to 350F.
2.    Cut the mozzarella sticks in half
3.    Use one wanton wrapper for each half of a mozzarella stick. Place the mozzarella cheese diagonally in the wanton wrapper. Fold the corners of the wanton wrapper onto the ends of the mozzarella. If the wanton wrapper is not sticking, put a little egg white on the ends of the mozzarella. Fold one side of the wanton wrapper over the cheese stick and then continue to wrap the wanton wrapper around the mozzarella stick. Put a little egg white on the corner of the wanton wrapper to prevent it from unwrapping.
4.    Cook for 5 minutes. Flip over the mozzarella sticks, then cook for another 3-5 minutes. Cook until mozzarella sticks are golden brown or mozzarella starts to ooze out.
